Foundation Breaks Ground on $12M Arts Center Expansion

Arts center expansion groundbreaking

The Meridian Arts Foundation broke ground on a $12 million expansion of the Meridian Arts Center, adding 15,000 square feet of gallery space, a new education wing, and a 200-seat performance hall.

New Facilities

  • Two additional gallery spaces for rotating exhibitions
  • Education wing with four classrooms and a digital media lab
  • 200-seat performance hall for music, dance, and theater
  • Expanded artist studios and residency housing
  • Rooftop sculpture terrace with city views

Timeline

Construction is expected to be completed by Fall 2027. During construction, the existing galleries and sculpture garden will remain open to the public. Some programs may be temporarily relocated to partner venues.

The expansion was made possible through a combination of major donor gifts, a state cultural facilities grant, and a capital campaign that raised $8 million from the community.
